The 2016 CHESS Graduation was held on Saturday, May 28th at the Centreville Baptist Church. The ceremony honored 14 graduating seniors, and over 200 friends and family came out to celebrate this noteworthy milestone. The students chose Philippians 1:6 as their graduation theme: “…being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
This year’s graduation featured two graduate speakers, Hannah Lillemo and Brianna Williams, as well as a musical rendition of David Crowder’s How He Loves, by graduate Quinn Weinzapfel on his guitar.
The commencement speaker was CHESS English teacher, Laura Ottaviano, who gave a moving and inspirational graduation address entitled “Above all else, believe.”
Several dads offered prayers for the graduates, and this year two graduate siblings also participated in the ceremony by singing and signing, In Christ Alone.
Following the ceremony, family and friends were able to visit around personalized graduate tables that were decorated with picture display boards and items that reflected each student’s character and interests. Everyone also enjoyed a delicious buffet lunch and dessert reception.
This year’s graduating class will continue their education at: Averett University, Auburn University, Covenant College, George Mason University, Liberty University, Northern Virginia Community College, Radford University, Regent University, and Wheaton College.
