In a recent article published in The Old Schoolhouse magazine, Carol Topp wrote a wonderful article entitled, “Preparing teens for their future through electives”.
CHESS is grateful to Carol for allowing us to republish her article. CHESS is dedicated to bringing homeschoolers a wide variety of both core and elective classes, so that each student can be prepared to face the broad academic challenges of high school, college and adult life.
Preparing teens for their future through electives
As my daughters approached high school, I looked beyond those four years into their future after graduation. I asked myself, “What do they need to be prepared for adulthood?” and I wondered if I could create elective classes to impart the knowledge and skills they needed. I knew that if I created a class, it was more likely to get on my daughter’s daily schedule. What gets scheduled gets done!
